Getting a great response for your hard-won budget

Following a detailed communications review for WOMANKIND Worldwide we created a simple but powerful cold direct mail campaign. It described the plight of women oppressed by poverty, culture and tradition through a moving and inspiring case study. Aberash, a 13-year old Ethiopian girl, had endured female genital mutilation followed by a sexually abusive arranged marriage. The donor was asked to return a postcard, with a message of support for women like Aberash, together with their donation.

The results?

Despite a tight budget, the campaign exceeded its targets by 300%. It also provoked more than 500 touching messages of support which were presented to Aberash, showing her that many women had heard her story and were moved to help.
